Testimonials

"My biggest challenge prior to working with Mrs. Kidwell was me. I did not believe college was an option for me so I did not really focus on preparing for college applications or searching for scholarships. Mrs. Kidwell helped me see that college was an option and helped me achieve that goal. She made applying for college and scholarships easy and much less stressful…Mrs. Kidwell's guidance and attention...opened so many opportunities for me. I began to see a brighter future for myself. I graduated from college in 2019 and since then have been working...as a legal assistant.  I have a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice … [with] a career in the legal field and the knowledge that I can do whatever I put my mind to. Knowledge is power.

Mrs. Kidwell is not only a kind human being, she is a gift. She has so much patience and such a big heart. I am forever grateful to Mrs. Kidwell. I would not be where I am today without her. I have a bachelor's degree which I thought I would never be able to say. But Mrs. Kidwell made that possible."

"[My biggest challenge was] figuring out how I would pay for college, along with almost everything I was required to do in order to get to college.  [I was] not scared, but nervous and determined to get to college.  [After talking with Mrs. Kidwell] I … [knew] what I had to do and was able to ask …questions about things I did not know about. I was a lot more confident.  My freshman and sophomore year of college is guaranteed to be covered by various scholarships and grants.  [Students should not] … worry about feeling dumb or inexperienced!  [Mrs. Kidwell]  will definitely have something to help you along your way, be it resources to read or scholarships to apply to."

"Around my junior year of high school was when the panic of the college-finding process sunk in for me. There were many questions that were running through my mind about where to start and what to do. The whole process seemed intimidating and I felt overwhelmed when I thought of all the deadlines and applications. I felt lost, and above all, I was very scared and unsure of myself.  Mrs. Kidwell, did an exceptional job with advising me.  I felt more prepared and aware of the things that I needed to accomplish in a timely manner.  Mrs. Kidwell did an amazing job at addressing my personal concerns; however, she was also good at informing me about things that I wasn’t giving enough attention to. She made me see the big picture of what college could offer."

As well as [have] someone to talk to about anything.  [Mrs. Kidwell is] pleasant, helpful and caring … loves [her] job …has patience, and [goes] above to assist."

"[My biggest challenge was] receiving financial support to assist with my cost of attendance for college.  [That]  made me feel hopeless and doubtful about pursuing college.  When I worked with [Ms. Kidwell] it was great. [She was] able to connect me with resources that helped me find funding to pay for my college tuition. My emotions turned from sadness to relief, gratefulness, and happiness!  I received delegate/senatorial scholarships and a state grant that assisted me with cost of attendance for my university.   Take a chance and be open to allowing Ms. Kidwell to assist you! She changed my life for the better and prepared me for college! She is a phenomenal person and mentor.

Ms. Kidwell is very good at what she does...I am truly grateful to have met her and experienced her work firsthand.  I graduate[d] from University of Maryland Eastern Shore] on May 20, 2022. I am pursuing my master's in public health with a concentration in epidemiology in the fall."

"My biggest challenge was how to navigate FAFSA and what to do with it. I had only heard about it …and didn't really understand the process of applying for financial aid.  I was very stressed and nervous. [I] definitely felt very overwhelmed with being a senior in high school and college applications.  [With Mrs. Kidwell’s assistance], I understood how to do the FAFSA application as well as … other ways to receive aid and pay for college … I still continuously receive aid from MHEC [Maryland Higher Education Commission].  [Mrs. Kidwell] is  awesome to work with and made the process very simplistic and easy to understand for a high schooler. I learned a lot about college from [her]  and I barely had to pay for my college at all."

"[I had]  little to no information about FAFSA and…financial aid. I felt as if I was unable to attend college because of my lack of information and abilities for applying [for admission] and financial aid.  Mrs. Kidwell patiently helped me to find and take advantage of every possible financial aid. She also helped me to gain experience in the professional world.  Mrs. Kidwell helped with reading, replying and creating professional emails, creating a successful schedule that assists with my time management, reading and understanding the fine print to agreements and many other skills that will help throughout my life.  Mrs. Kidwell has been one of the most influential factors in my journey to success.  She has become a close friend of mine because of her kindness, patience and wisdom. She has also been extremely supportive of all of my changes and difficult circumstances, truly giving me hope for a successful future."
